Mrs. Georgia Clarke Mobley, 84,affectionately known as "Mother Dear" and "Great" by her grandchildren, was the daughter of the late Robert and Ora Bell Graham. She was born in Saluda County, South Carolina on June 4, 1936.She peacefully departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest, surrounded by her loving children at the Saluda Nursing & Rehab Center on October 7, 2020 at 7:20 pm. Georgia received her formal education in the public schools of Saluda, South Carolina. She was baptized , giving her life to the Lord, and became a member at Lockhart Baptist Church, serving faithfully until her health declined. Georgia loved the church! Her one desire after getting sick was to come back to Lockhart one more time. She served in many capacities at Lockhart ; on the Deaconess Board; the Usher Board as its president; and as the Custodian and the Kitchen Committee Chairperson.
Georgia was gifted with a "domestically" excellent spirit. She loved cooking, cleaning, and taking care of such chores. You would often find her preparing meals for her family. friends, and co- workers and was asked many times to cook her famous dressing and gravy. Georgia was employed and retired from Milliken, Saluda Plant, after 33 years of service. In addition to her parent, Georgia was preceded in death by her first husband ,Mr. Johnny Lee Clarke; her second husband ,Deacon Samuel Mobley Sr.; her siblings :Mr. AB, Mr. Curtis, Mr. Thomas Graham, Mrs. Annie Ruth Clarke, and Mrs. Ethel Daniels; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Luella M. Crosby.
Mrs. Georgia Clarke Mobley leaves to cherish her memories , three daughters: Mrs. Irene { Willie} Abney, Ms. Carolyn Peterson, and Ms. Brenda Abney; a faithful nephew, Mr. Bernard [Angela] Daniels; two goddaughters Mrs. Joyce Jones and Ms. Dora Etheredge, all of Saluda ,South Carolina, six stepchildren, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; two brothers, Mr. James {Vanjewel} Graham of Hyattsville, Maryland and Mr. Robert Graham of Richmond, Virginia; and one sister, Ms. Geraldine Graham of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . She also leaves two sisters-in laws; three brothers-in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are saddened at her passing and will forever miss her.
