Hardy Lorick Obituary

 

 

Hardy Lorick began his journey of life on April 16th in 1937 and entered eternal rest on June 2, 2026, peacefully at his home in Hyattsville Maryland. He was the beloved son of the late Henry Lorickand Margaret (Springs) Lorick. Hardy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rock Hill Baptist Church, then later he joined and continued his fellowship at First Baptist Church of Deanwood.  Hardy grew up in Saluda and attended the public school in Saluda County. He married his sweetheart Rosa Bell Christy. Together they moved to Washington D.C. and later they were blessed with three Children. Hardy was also blessed with two sons. 


He began his career at the Washington Gas Light Company and dedicated 45 years of service, where he was highly respected and well-liked by so many of his peers; Hardy was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Family was the cornerstone of Hardy’s life; there was nothing that he would not do to help them when the time arose. Whether you were facing or going through a difficult moment, rest assure you could count on him being there for you. He would always greet you with a warm dimple smile and a big hug.  He took pride in his appearance, a man with undeniable style. Hardy was would rarely been seen without one of his signature hats and perfectly pressed suits “He didn’t go unnoticed when he stepped into a room.”

During his retirement years, Hardy enjoyed attending family gatherings, taking long jogs, gardening, bike riding, hunting, fishing and playing inthe yard with his canine side stick, “Girl.” And most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. Those who knew him will rememberhis loving and generous spirit, and the joy he took in life’s simple moments.


He was preceded in death by his wife: Rosa Bell Christie; son: Norman Lorick; sisters: Annie Ruth and Lucile; brothers: Henry Bell, Jessie, Curtis, Johnny Lee and Frank.

Hardy leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family members: his daughter Debra Williams, SC; son; Rodney Lorick, MD, Kenny Gray, SC and Michael Herring, SC; brother: Willbert (Grace) Lorick, SC; sister: Mable (George) Crouch, SC; sister-in-law: Clara Lorick NC; four grandchildren: Tracey, Mya, Hardy, and Norman and host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
