Joyce Thelma White was born to the late Viedell and Larkin Boston Goudy-Martin on April 30, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY., She transitioned to be with the Lord on August 13, 2024, in Severn , Maryland. Joyce received her education in the New York City School System. She became a member of the Armed Service (US Army) in 1961 and worked as a License Practical Nurse, after her Honorable Discharge, she furthered her education and became a Registered Nurse. She was employed with the Brooklyn VA Medical Center where she retired after 30 years of employment.
Joyce was a joy to everyone that knew her, and she was affectionately known as Miss Joyce or Mama Joyce by her church family at the Christian Cultural Center (CCC) in Brooklyn. The CCC was an integral part of her life. Joyce was a member of the Mission ministry, Pastoral Care, the Seniors ministry known as the Golden Saints, the Quilting Bees, and participated in plays with the Drama Department. She also enjoyed singing with the VA National Medical Musical Group, spending time with her family especially on holidays. Joyce enjoyed jazz and gospel music and an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
Her life will be celebrated and remembered by her two daughters who she loved dearley Jessica White of Brooklyn, NY, and Robin Goudy-Martin as well as a son in-law Marvin "Tyrone" Martin both of Severn, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and her church family at CCC in Brooklyn and beloved friends.
