Martiya Jermi Vaughn

Martiya Jermi Vaughn of Charlotte, NC was born on July 10th ,2005 in Greenwood SC to Beverly Vaughn and the late Jerica Tyler. She departed this earthly life on Friday, October 1st,2021at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Martiya was a Junior at North Mecklenburg High School and employed with Defy Gravity. Never letting her illness stop her from smiling and working hard. She had an amazing spirit that touched so many hearts throughout her journey here.

Martiya loved to cheer she was a cheerleader at her high school and competition cheer squad at CUC. Never a dull moment  laughing, dancing ,doing Tik Tok ,drawing, and just enjoying life. Everyone who knew her knew that her favorite food was crab legs and drinking Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino, even while in the hospital staff would bring it to her.

Martiya loved her family ,friends, and her dog "Marshmello Rain" she enjoyed helping others and never complaining even when she had many trails and tribulations with her health. , her smile could light up any room.

In December, 2019 Martiya was diagnosed with a terminal  illness which caused her multiple  stays at Hemby Children Hospital, St Jude's, Levine Children ,and Duke University. She was a fighter and a life was a true testimony. "Never Giving Up"

Martiya was preceded in death by her father Jerica Tyler, uncle Tyron Tyler and her maternal grandfather John Vaughn. 

Those left to cherish her memories are her mother Beverly Vaughn of Charlotte ,NC, brothers ;Justin Gantt of Charlotte, NC, and Ty Landy of  Monetta SC; sisters; Cherelle Henley of Saluda, SC and Volanda Lorick of Atlanta , GA. Maternal grandmother; Virginia Vaughn of Saluda , SC; Paternal grandmother Mary Tyler  of Monetta ,SC; and a Bonus grandmother Jeanette (Keith) Holloway of Trenton, SC; Uncles ; Lawrence (Naomi) Coleman of Saluda ,SC ; Leroy (Mary) Coleman of Suitland, Maryland. Aunts ; Marie Glover of Saluda , SC; Wendy (James) Davis of Charlotte, NC; and Tar Angie Tyler of Ridge Spring; God Father Jermaine Brown of Greenwood, SC. a host of nieces; nephews; special cousins; aunts; uncles; and friends.

Service will be held Sunday, 2:00pm , October 10, 2021 at Celebration Church 1765 Batesburg Hwy ,Batesburg Leesville, SC 29006
