Ray A Abney

Ray A. Abney departed this earthly home and entered into his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Born on March 8, 1947, Ray was a son of the late  James T. and Willie M. Abney.  He attended the public school in Saluda County. a member of Wateree AME Church at  a early age, employed at Star Mobile Home in Saluda, SC.

He was predeceased in death , his loving wife Anne Bonnie Lott-Abney,two daughters Mattie Lisa Abney and Mary Abney , three brothers Melvin, Abraham, and James H. Abney, a grand- son Richard Sims

Surviving are his daughters; Octavius L. (Edward) Werts of the home in Prosperity SC., Jerlean (Tony) Praylow of Batesburg-Leesville, SC, Martha Abney-Legette of Columbia SC, Wilma Ray (Ricardo) Abney of Batesburg, SC, Michelle Curry of Staten Island, NY. , Michelle (Tony) Walford of Columbia, SC., and Tyra "Kate" Sullivan of Greenwood, SC., sons; Ray (Trina) Anderson Abney Jr., of Pensacola, Florida, Willie Rico Abney, of Newberry, SC., Robert Lee (Denise) Abney of Atlanta, Ga., Terry Abney of Alexandria, Va., five sisters, Georgia Faye (Robert) Hawkins, Andrena Abney,  Susan Abney, Katherine (Oscar) Abney, all of Saluda, SC and Willie Pearl Abney of Newberry, SC., one brother  Calvin Abney of Saluda, SC.,  30 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 20 nieces and nephews, a aunt, Annie Mae Mathews of Saluda, SC., mother in-law , Eliza Lott of Saluda. SC., brothers in-law Henry Gallman of Prospeerity, SC his devoted friends, Joe Galliam, Mary Glover, Charles Miles, Florence Stoudemire, Curtis Wertz, and Betty Abney, special cousin and friend Sammie Matthews, other loving family and friends.

Service is Saturday January 17 at 12 noon , Shiloh AME Church in Prosperity SC,  Reverend  Stepheny Pratt, Pastor. Burial will be at Wateree AME Church in Saluda SC
