Rosa Mae Bates

Rosa Mae "Bay" Bates of Saluda, South Carolina, peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Born December 13, 1942 in Saluda County, Rosa was a daughter of the late Henry "Buddy" and the late Maria Byrd Bates. 

She was a graduate of Riverside High School and was retired from the textile and health care professions.  Rosa was an active member of Lockhart Baptist Church where she sang with the gospel chorus and served on various other ministries. 

In addition to her parents, Rosa was proceeded in death by a son, Anthony Murray;   Brothers, William Bates and Jesse Bates; sisters, Susie Bell, (Ernest) Bates Craig, Annie Ruth (Robert) Bates Freeman and Mary Deloise (Johnnie) Bates Dukes.  

Rosa will be sorely missed by: two sons, Eric (Trina) Bates of Aiken, South Carolina and Robert (Brenda) Murray, Jr. of Saluda, South Carolina; two daughters,  Priscilla (Frankie) Bates Spellman of Blythewood, South Carolina and Ernestine Bates of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Esther Bates Bush of Columbia, South Carolina, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, church family members,  and community friends Rosa Mae "Bay" Bates of Saluda, South Carolina, peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
